The most recent MOT inspection conducted in August 2023 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, following a similarly clean result in August 2022. This indicates a stable and consistent maintenance trend regarding the vehicle's compliance with basic safety and environmental standards. Based on the available DVSA data, there are no recorded patterns of recurring mechanical failures or deteriorating components that would suggest an immediate need for remedial work. The recorded mileage of 15,017 miles is notably low for a ten-year-old vehicle, representing an annual average of approximately 1,500 miles. While this suggests that the engine, transmission, and major mechanical components have experienced minimal operational wear, such low usage often implies the vehicle has been subject to long periods of inactivity. This usage profile shifts the inspection focus from mileage-based wear to age-related degradation and the potential effects of standing for extended durations. Prospective buyers should conduct a thorough physical inspection focusing on components susceptible to time-based decay. Examine the tyres for signs of perishing or sidewall cracking, as the rubber may have hardened and lost grip despite having ample tread depth. Check the brake discs for excessive corrosion or pitting and ensure the calipers are not binding due to seized pistons from lack of use. It is also essential to inspect the drive system for any signs of stiffness or degradation in the belt or chain, and to check all rubber hoses and seals for signs of cracking or fluid weeping. Beyond physical components, the electrical and fluid systems require scrutiny. Verify that the 12V battery has been maintained or replaced recently, as low-use vehicles are highly prone to battery degradation and discharge. Confirm that the service history reflects time-based maintenance, specifically regarding the replacement of engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid, which can degrade chemically even if the mileage remains low. During the test ride, listen for any unusual clunks from the suspension bushes or bearing noise, which could indicate that seals have dried out or components have become stuck due to inactivity.
