2010 Renault Megane 1.5L Diesel · HV60 ADO

The vehicle demonstrates recent roadworthiness, with a successful MOT on 2025-09-29 at 120,590 miles. However, the preceding failure on 2025-09-26 at identical mileage raises questions about the testing process or minor unresolved issues. No defects were recorded in either test, suggesting the failure may relate to procedural or non-structural factors. The absence of recorded faults in the 2024 and 2023 MOTs indicates a stable maintenance history up to that point, though the abrupt shift to a failure in late 2025 warrants further scrutiny. The mileage progression shows a consistent annual average of ~7,500 miles, aligning with typical usage for a 16-year-old vehicle. A notable jump from 107,135 miles (2024-10-04) to 120,590 miles (2025-09-29) reflects accelerated use over 11 months, which could exacerbate wear on consumables like tyres and brake components. The lack of defects in earlier tests suggests prior owners prioritized basic upkeep, though the sparse data limits insight into long-term mechanical trends. A physical inspection should focus on suspension components, particularly coil springs and bushes, given the vehicle’s age and mileage. The rear brakes, which showed no recorded issues, should be checked for binding or uneven wear. Exhaust emissions and structural integrity, though not flagged in MOTs, remain critical areas to verify, as they are often overlooked in routine tests. The absence of corrosion or rust in the record is positive, but a thorough underbody check is advised to confirm long-term durability.
