2011 BMW Z4 2.5L Petrol · HV61 ODR

The 2011 BMW Z4 demonstrates a stable roadworthiness trend based on its most recent MOT record, which passed on 2025-05-08 at 47,622 miles with no defects. However, a prior failed test on 2025-05-02 at 47,614 miles—just six days earlier—raises questions about procedural inconsistencies, as no defects were recorded for either assessment. The absence of recorded faults in earlier tests from 2024-04-17 (45,763 miles) and 2022-09-26 (40,773 miles) suggests the vehicle has maintained compliance, but the abrupt failure without explanation warrants further scrutiny. The vehicle’s mileage of 47,622 miles over 15 years equates to an average of 3,175 miles annually, significantly below typical usage for its age. This low accumulation implies prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate corrosion, dry rot, and component degradation. Notably, the 2024-04-17 test showed a 1,859-mile increase from 2022-09-26, while the 2025-05-08 test recorded only 8 miles since the failed assessment, reinforcing concerns about inconsistent usage patterns. The sparse MOT history lacks detailed defect data, limiting insights into mechanical wear. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the underbody for corrosion, particularly around the chassis and exhaust system, given the low mileage and potential for stagnant conditions. Suspension components, including bushes and coil springs, may require closer examination for wear exacerbated by infrequent use. Brake discs and calipers should be checked for uneven wear or binding, as low-mileage vehicles can develop issues from prolonged inactivity. The absence of recorded advisories does not eliminate risks, and a pre-purchase inspection is essential to verify the vehicle’s mechanical integrity.
