2011 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · HW11 AFF

The most recent recorded MOT result is a pass from March 2022. While the vehicle passed this test without recorded defects, the overall maintenance trend is difficult to ascertain due to a significant lack of data between 2022 and the current date. The failure recorded in February 2022 without listed defects is atypical and suggests either a minor administrative issue or a lack of detailed reporting. Prospective buyers should be cautious of this data gap and request a full service history to verify the vehicle's roadworthiness over the last four years. With a recorded mileage of 193,433 miles over fifteen years, this vehicle has averaged approximately 12,896 miles per year. This is considered high usage, which typically implies a higher degree of mechanical wear on critical drivetrain and chassis components. While consistent long-distance usage can be less taxing on an engine than short urban trips, the cumulative mileage suggests that major consumables and wear-and-tear items, such as suspension mounts and turbocharger components, may be approaching the end of their operational lifespan. Given the absence of specific MOT advisories and the high mileage, a rigorous physical inspection is essential. Particular attention should be paid to the suspension bushes and coil springs, as these are prone to fatigue on high-mileage Discoveries. During a test drive, listen for any clunks or knocks over uneven surfaces and feel for excessive vibration through the steering wheel, which could indicate worn steering rack components or uneven tyre wear. The structural integrity of the chassis must be examined for corrosion, particularly in the rear sections and load-bearing rails. Further inspection should focus on the braking system and fluid health. Check for brake disc corrosion or binding calipers, and ensure the brake pedal feel is firm without shuddering. Given the age and mileage, verify that the timing belt and water pump have been replaced according to the manufacturer's intervals. Inspect the engine bay for oil leaks and check the condition of the 12V battery and all calendar-based fluids. A comprehensive review of the service book stamps is necessary to confirm that the vehicle has not suffered from neglected maintenance during its high-mileage tenure.
