2004 Harley-Davidson XL1200R Sportster 1200 1.2L Petrol · HX54 HWN

The roadworthiness status of this motorcycle remains uncertain due to a lack of recent testing data. While the vehicle maintained a clean pass record in April 2022 at 14,911 miles, the subsequent test in April 2023 at 15,822 miles resulted in a failure with no recorded defects, suggesting a potential administrative error or a non-related failure. Given that three years have passed since the last recorded entry, the vehicle is currently out of test and its mechanical condition cannot be verified through official records alone. The vehicle exhibits an exceptionally low mileage profile, averaging approximately 719 miles per year over its twenty-two-year life. Between the April 2022 and April 2023 tests, the motorcycle covered only 911 miles. This pattern indicates the bike has spent long periods in storage rather than being used regularly. While low mileage reduces wear on drivetrain components and tyres, it often leads to degradation of rubber elements and fluid chemistry, which can perish or age regardless of the short distance travelled. A prospective buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection focusing on components affected by long-term storage. Priority should be given to checking for perished brake lines, fork seals, and aged tyres that may show sidew cracking despite deep tread. Inspect the frame for corrosion, particularly around mounting points, as stationary vehicles are prone to moisture-related rust. Because the MOT history is sparse, verifying the state of the fuel system and the integrity of the suspension bushings is essential to ensure the motorcycle has not suffered from periods of inactivity.
