2006 Toyota Avensis Colour COL D-4D 2.0L Diesel · INZ 8459

This 2006 Toyota Avensis 1.9 D-4D presents an exceptionally clean MOT record. The most recent test on 19 December 2024 at 216,663 miles passed with zero defects, advisories, or failures. That is a strong result for a twenty-year-old diesel. The maintenance trend is stable and, by the evidence of the record, improving, as the car has consistently passed without any flagged items across the last five consecutive tests. The mileage accumulation is steady and broadly typical for the vehicle's age. Between the November 2018 test at 107,146 miles and the November 2021 test at 161,657 miles, the car covered roughly 54,500 miles in three years, indicating heavier use during that period. From November 2021 to December 2022, it added approximately 30,600 miles, and then from December 2022 to December 2024, just 24,367 miles over two years, suggesting a noticeable drop in annual mileage more recently. The current recorded mileage of 216,663 is high but not excessive for a well-maintained diesel of this age, and the consistent pass history implies the powertrain and key systems have held up well. Despite the clean paperwork, a buyer should still carry out a thorough physical inspection. At this mileage, suspension components such as front lower arm bushes, anti-roll bar links, and rear trailing arm bushes are common wear points on the Avensis platform, even if they have not yet triggered an MOT failure. Check the underside for corrosion, particularly around the rear subframe, sills, and brake line mounting points, as structural rust can develop quietly on older saloons. Inspect the exhaust system for leaks or deterioration, and verify that the diesel particulate filter system is functioning correctly, as emissions-related failures are common on higher-mileage D-4D engines. The braking system and tyre condition deserve close attention. While no binding calipers or worn discs have been flagged, consumable items like brake pads, discs, and tyres will be approaching replacement intervals at this mileage. A test drive should confirm smooth gear changes, no clutch slip, and steady idling, as the 1.9 D-4D unit is generally robust but can develop injector or EGR issues over time. Overall, the MOT record is reassuring, but the absence of defects on paper does not replace a hands-on mechanical inspection.
