2012 Vauxhall Astra ES Cdti Ecoflex 1.2L Diesel · IXZ 2742

The vehicle’s most recent MOT, conducted on 2022-09-03 at 169,602 miles, recorded no defects, indicating a stable maintenance trend. However, the absence of any subsequent tests—over three years have elapsed since the last assessment—raises concerns about its current roadworthiness. A valid MOT is required annually, and the lack of updated records suggests the car may not have been inspected for compliance with safety and emissions standards in over three years. This gap implies potential neglect in routine servicing or failure to address emerging issues. The vehicle’s mileage of 169,602 miles at 14 years old equates to approximately 12,114 miles per year, significantly higher than average for its age. The MOT history shows no defects in 2021-05-28 (152,475 miles) or 2022-09-03 (169,602 miles), but the rapid accumulation of 17,127 miles in just 15 months between these tests suggests frequent use. This pattern increases wear on components such as suspension bushes, brake discs, and exhaust systems. The lack of advisories or failures in the records does not preclude underlying issues, as some mechanical degradation may not trigger immediate MOT failures. A buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension, brakes, and exhaust, given the high mileage and extended MOT gap. Focus on corrosion in underbody components, as prolonged use without regular checks can accelerate rust. The absence of recorded tyre tread issues is positive, but a physical assessment of tyre condition and wheel bearings is advisable. The vehicle’s mechanical integrity remains uncertain without recent diagnostics, and the expired MOT status necessitates immediate attention to ensure compliance and safety.
