2009 Land Rover Range Rover 4.4L Petrol · J11 DDH

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-08-14 at 47,417 miles recorded a pass with no defects, but this followed a failure on 2025-07-31 at 47,405 miles, which also had no recorded defects. This abrupt transition from failure to pass without explanation suggests potential inconsistency in testing or unresolved issues. Previous tests from 2022 to 2024 showed consistent passes with no defects, indicating a stable maintenance record until the 2025 anomaly. The lack of specific fault codes or advisories in these records limits definitive conclusions about underlying mechanical health. The vehicle’s mileage of 47,417 miles over 17 years equates to an average of 2,789 miles annually, significantly lower than typical usage for its age. This suggests prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate wear on rubber components, electrical systems, and corrosion. Notably, the gap between the 2024-08-09 test (46,909 miles) and 2025-07-31 test (47,405 miles) spans 11 months with only 496 miles logged, reinforcing concerns about storage conditions. The absence of recurring defects in prior years implies no systemic issues, but the recent failure raises questions about maintenance continuity. A physical inspection should prioritise suspension components, particularly bushings and coil springs, which degrade under infrequent use. Brake systems, including calipers and discs, warrant scrutiny due to potential corrosion from inactivity. Structural integrity checks for rust, especially in underbody areas, are critical given the low mileage. Buyers should also verify the exhaust system and engine mounts, as prolonged standing can lead to hidden leaks or stiffness. The MOT history lacks specific warnings, but the recent failure underscores the need for a detailed pre-purchase assessment.
