1992 Leyland DAF FA 45.120 Heavy oil · J658 AHK

The vehicle currently fails the roadworthiness standard. The most recent test on 8 April 2024 at 65,369 miles returned a fail with no defects recorded, which points to a documentation or administrative failure rather than a clear mechanical fault. Prior to that, the 25 April 2023 test at 60,522 miles passed with no advisories, so the trend shows a clean history abruptly broken by an unexplained fail just over two years before today's date. The recorded mileage sits low for a 34-year-old 1992 Leyland DAF FA 45.120, averaging roughly 1,923 miles per year. Between the 29 March 2022 test at 587,909 miles and the 2023 test at 60,522 miles the record shows a sharp, implausible drop of over 527,000 miles, indicating a data entry error in the 2022 figure rather than genuine use. From 2023 to 2024 the truck covered only 4,847 miles, consistent with light duties or extended standing. The sparse history carries no advisories across the passed years, so wear patterns are undocumented. A buyer should treat the April 2024 fail as the priority. With no defects listed, the DVSA system likely logged a withdrawn or incomplete test; confirm the exact failure reason with the test station before purchase. Given the age and low annual use, inspect chassis rails and crossmembers for structural corrosion, check suspension bushes and leaf springs for perishing from inactivity, and verify brake discs and calipers are free from seizing after long rest periods. The clean 2022 and 2023 passes suggest basic statutory upkeep was met when tested, but the unexplained 2024 fail leaves roadworthiness unconfirmed. Budget for a full mechanical inspection and a fresh MOT before relying on this vehicle.
