1992 Volkswagen Polo 1.0L Petrol · J804 JME

The Volkswagen Polo presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend, based on the most recent test on 4 August 2023 at 89,773 miles where the tester recorded a pass with no defects. The three consecutive annual tests from 2021 to 2023 each returned a clean pass, showing no worsening faults, advisories, or recurring mechanical concerns across the period. The recorded mileage shows very low use for a 34-year-old vehicle. The August 2021 test at 86,955 miles rose to 88,546 miles by August 2022, then to 89,773 miles by August 2023. That equates to roughly 1,200 to 1,800 miles per year, well below the ~2,640 annual average implied by the total. The clean record across all three years gives no evidence of neglected consumables or deferred repairs, though the sparse history leaves long gaps between 2019 and 2021 unaccounted for. A buyer should still inspect the car in person for age-related corrosion, given the 1992 build and likely periods of standing. The MOT data flags no suspension bushes, brake discs, exhaust, or structural issues, but 34 years will often hide perished rubber and surface rust not caught in a pass. Check the underside, sills, and suspension mounts closely. Verify the brake calipers are free and the tyres are not cracked from low-mileage storage. The low yearly use suggests light owner care, yet standing time can degrade flexible components more than regular driving would.
