1992 Kawasaki Zephyr 550 0.6L Petrol · J962 EGP

The Kawasaki Zephyr 550 presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 29 April 2025 at 27,180 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, following a clean pass on 1 May 2024 at 27,077 miles. The vehicle shows no escalating faults or recurring advisories across the available history. Recorded mileage sits at 27,180 against a 1992 build, averaging roughly 799 miles per year. The gap between the November 2022 test at 26,103 miles and the May 2024 test at 27,077 miles shows only 974 miles added in eighteen months, confirming long-term light use. A failed entry on 16 November 2022 at 26,103 miles carries no listed defects, with a pass logged the same day, suggesting an administrative or procedural rejection rather than a mechanical fault. Given the low annual use and clean MOT outcomes, previous keepers appear to have stored the machine rather than ridden it hard. A buyer should still inspect for corrosion on the frame and exhaust, as standing vehicles suffer structural rust where moisture gathers. Check the suspension bushes, fork seals, and brake calipers for age-related stiffness or seepage that a static test may miss. Tyres and brake discs will likely show cracking or flat spots from prolonged inactivity despite passing recent tests. Verify the chain and sprockets for rust binding, and confirm the battery and carburettors function after standing. The record implies careful storage, but physical inspection remains essential on a 34-year-old machine.
