2017 BMW X3 2.0L Diesel · JA55 BER

The 2017 BMW X3 presents a clean roadworthiness status with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 14 August 2025 at 48,546 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, continuing an unbroken five-year sequence of passes from 2021 through 2025. No advisories or mechanical faults appear anywhere in the DVSA history, which indicates the vehicle has not required corrective work within the test regime during this period. Annual mileage sits well below typical use for a nine-year-old SUV. The records show 34,621 miles at the 27 August 2021 test, rising to 37,832 by 8 August 2022, 41,806 by 17 August 2023, 45,082 by 1 August 2024, and 48,546 by 14 August 2025. That equates to roughly 3,400 miles added each year, or about 5,394 miles per annum overall. The low and consistent accumulation points to light private use rather than neglect, though prolonged standing between short journeys can age tyres, brake discs, and suspension bushes without showing in mileage. A buyer should still commission a physical inspection despite the spotless test ledger. The MOT only captures failures and formal advisories, so worn coil springs, degraded suspension bushes, or surface corrosion on structural members may exist without being logged. Check brake disc condition and caliper freedom, as low-mileage cars often develop binding from disuse. Inspect tyre sidewalls for perishing linked to age rather than tread wear. Given the absence of any recorded defects across five tests, prior owners appear to have kept the X3 to a standard that satisfied annual examination. The clean history and low mileage reduce immediate risk, but the age of the vehicle means rubber components, exhaust hangers, and underbody protection warrant hands-on verification before purchase.
