2021 BMW 420I M Sport Auto 2.0L Petrol · JB04 ADA

The vehicle passed its most recent MOT inspection on 28 October 2025 with no defects or advisories recorded. This clean result indicates that the vehicle met all mandatory safety and environmental standards at the time of testing. Based on the available data, the maintenance trend appears stable, suggesting that the vehicle has been maintained to a standard that avoids the common mechanical failures typically flagged during annual inspections. The recorded mileage of 34,991 miles over a five-year period equates to an average annual usage of approximately 7,000 miles. This represents a relatively low-mileage profile for a BMW of this age, which is generally beneficial for the mechanical integrity of the engine, turbocharger, and automatic transmission. However, such usage patterns can sometimes indicate that the vehicle has been used for short journeys or has spent extended periods stationary, which can lead to specific maintenance requirements that are not always captured by mileage alone. As the MOT history is currently clear of defects, your physical inspection should focus on age-related degradation rather than high-mileage wear. You should examine the tyres for any signs of perishing or sidewall cracking, as rubber compounds degrade over time regardless of tread depth. During the test drive, pay close attention to the braking system by checking for any shuddering through the pedal, which could indicate warped discs, or any pulling to one side, which may suggest binding calipers. It is also important to listen for any rhythmic clunks or knocks from the suspension, which could indicate that the bushes or coil springs are beginning to perish due to age. Given the lower annual mileage, it is essential to verify the service history to confirm that time-based maintenance has been strictly followed. Ensure that engine oil and brake fluid have been changed according to the manufacturer's intervals, as fluids can degrade chemically even if the vehicle has not covered significant distances. Additionally, check the condition of the 12V battery and inspect the engine bay for any signs of weeping from hoses or seals, as components in vehicles with lower usage can sometimes suffer from drying out or uneven thermal cycling.
