2021 Ford Focus Active Edition Mhev 1.0L Petrol · JE21 DAN

The 2021 Ford Focus Active Edition MHEV has maintained a clean MOT history with no defects recorded in either of the two most recent tests—passing on 21 May 2024 at 13,463 miles and again on 7 May 2025 at 17,753 miles. This indicates a stable roadworthiness trend over the past 12 months, with no recurring advisories or serious failings. The absence of any advisory notes in either test suggests the vehicle has not experienced persistent issues requiring attention beyond routine servicing. However, the lack of defects does not preclude hidden wear—particularly in areas like suspension bushes, coil springs, or brake caliper binding—which would only be confirmed through a thorough mechanical inspection. The recorded mileage of 17,753 miles over five years, averaging approximately 3,551 miles annually, is unusually low for a vehicle of this age. This suggests either very light usage or prolonged periods of inactivity, which could impact components such as fuel lines, battery health, and suspension fluid integrity. The gap between the 2024 and 2025 tests—covering exactly 4,290 miles—does not indicate rapid wear, but the overall low mileage may mean some consumables (e.g., brake pads, wiper blades) have not been replaced as frequently as they should have been. The lack of MOT data before 2024 means earlier maintenance patterns remain unknown, though the consistency of the last two tests is reassuring. Given the clean MOT record, a buyer should prioritise a detailed inspection of suspension components, particularly the rear suspension bushes and coil springs, as these are common points of failure in low-mileage vehicles that have stood unused for extended periods. The brakes, though not flagged in tests, should be checked for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has been stationary for long stretches. Structural integrity—particularly in the wheel arches, sills, and underbody—must also be assessed for corrosion, as rust can develop even in low-mileage cars exposed to moisture or poor storage conditions. Finally, the hybrid battery and associated wiring should be tested for degradation, as hybrid systems can suffer from disuse without regular charging cycles.
