2015 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 1.6L Petrol · JL03 LEX

A pattern of long-term roadworthiness is evident through the recent history of this Mercedes-Benz A-Class, following a period between 2018 and 2021 that saw recurring advisories regarding consumable components. While the vehicle has recorded no defects or advisories in its three most recent tests, including the latest pass on 24 August 2025, the earlier records show a consistent need for attention to tyres and braking surfaces. This transition from a period of documented wear to a clean testing record suggests that the components previously flagged have since been addressed. The vehicle exhibits a low annual mileage accumulation of approximately 5,659 miles over its eleven-year lifespan, which is notably lower than the UK average. This usage profile indicates the car has been driven relatively infrequently, which can mean less mechanical wear on the drivetrain and suspension compared to high-mileage counterparts. However, such low usage can also result in components like tyres and brake discs being subject to more environmental degradation or flat-spotting rather than traditional wear-and-tear, which is reflected in the historical advisories for perished and worn tyres. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on the braking system and tyre condition, given the historical advisories for worn pads, pitted discs, and uneven tyre wear. During a test drive, pay close attention to the braking performance by checking for any pedal judder or pulsation, which could indicate disc thickness issues or warping, and listen for any grinding noises that might suggest pad depletion. It is also advisable to inspect the tyre sidewalls and tread patterns for any signs of uneven wear or perishing, particularly on the front axle, to ensure the previous issues with edge wear have been fully rectified. The historical advisories regarding tyres worn on the edges suggest that alignment or suspension geometry may have been a factor in the past. When operating the vehicle, check for any steering pull to one side or a wandering sensation at cruising speeds, which could indicate that the steering or suspension bushes are not maintaining a correct track. While the recent clean MOT results are a positive indicator of current compliance, verifying the current state of the front axle components and ensuring the tyres have sufficient tread depth across the entire width of the contact patch remains a priority.
