2003 Lotus Elise 1.8L Petrol · JP03 LOT

The vehicle maintains a high standard of roadworthiness, evidenced by a consistent history of clean passes over the last decade. The most recent test on 26 August 2025 at 40,099 miles recorded no defects or advisories. This trend indicates a remarkably stable maintenance regime where the previous owners have proactively addressed mechanical issues before they resulted in MOT failures. There are no recurring structural or mechanical faults flagged throughout the recorded history. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a 23-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 1,743 miles per year. Between 2021 and 2025, the car covered only 456 miles, moving from 39,643 miles to 40,099 miles. While this low usage suggests minimal wear on the drivetrain and engine, the long intervals between tests increase the risk of fluid breakdown and age-related degradation. The data shows a consistent annual testing pattern, suggesting the car is used regularly rather than neglected for extended periods. Despite the clean MOT record, a physical inspection must focus on components affected by time rather than just mileage. A buyer should specifically check for cracking in rubber perished components, degradation of suspension bushes, and corrosion on brake lines which often occur on low-use vehicles. Given the low mileage, brake calipers should be inspected for seizing or disc pitting from disuse. The structural integrity of the chassis should be verified for hidden rust, ensuring the age of the vehicle has not compromised the frame despite the lack of mileage.
