2015 Toyota Verso Excel D-4D 1.6L Diesel · JXZ 8569

The vehicle's recent roadworthiness status is questionable following a failure in the April 2026 test at 132,893 miles. While the vehicle maintained a clean pass record between February 2025 and February 2026, the most recent failure suggests a sudden mechanical or structural issue has emerged. This represents a break in a previously stable maintenance trend, moving from a clean pass to a non-compliant status within a short timeframe. The mileage accumulation is significant for an eleven-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 12,081 miles per year. The data shows a steady increase in usage, rising from 105,998 miles in March 2023 to 132,893 miles in April 2026. This consistent annual mileage indicates regular road use rather than long periods of sitting idle. The jump from 118,013 miles in January 2024 to 128,781 miles in February 2025 shows a consistent driving pattern, though the high total mileage increases the likelihood of wear on heavy-duty components. A prospective buyer must investigate the specific cause of the April 2026 failure, as the record provides no details on the defect. Given the high mileage and the age of the Toyota, a physical inspection should focus heavily on the underside for structural corrosion and the condition of the suspension bushes and coil springs. The tester should also check for signs of uneven tyre wear or worn shock absorbers, which often coincide with high-mileage diesel engines. Because the vehicle has passed several tests without advisories in the recent past, the current failure might relate to a specific component that has reached the end of its service life. Prioritise a thorough check of the braking system, specifically looking for binding calipers or heavily pitted brake discs. Given the high mileage, checking the integrity of the exhaust system and the condition of the drive belts is also necessary to ensure no underlying maintenance issues have been overlooked.
