2011 BMW 640I 3.0L Petrol · K12 KBV

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status. The most recent DVSA test on 6 February 2026 at 184,931 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded. Across the five available annual examinations from 8 February 2022 to that date, the car achieved consecutive passes without advisories, indicating a steady maintenance trend with no worsening mechanical or structural issues. Mileage accumulation has slowed markedly relative to the car's 15-year life. The odometer read 171,191 miles at the 8 February 2022 test and climbed to 184,931 miles by 6 February 2026, a total gain of 13,740 miles over four years, equating to roughly 3,400 miles per annum. Earlier in its life the average sat near 12,300 miles per year; the recent consistent record shows the BMW entered a period of light use, with tests filed each winter without lapse. Such low annual coverage suggests careful ownership, though high cumulative mileage means drivetrain components have still experienced substantial cycle counts. No recurring faults appear in the MOT data, so the buyer cannot infer specific problem areas from advisories. The clean sheets from 2022 through 2026 imply previous keepers rectified tyres, wiper blades, suspension bushes or brake discs before each inspection. Still, at 184,931 miles the purchaser should physically examine front and rear suspension arms for worn bushes, check coil springs for fractures, measure brake disc thickness and caliper slide operation, and inspect subframes and sills for corrosion not yet at statutory limit. Given the car's high cumulative mileage, a pre-purchase inspection should extend beyond MOT scope to engine timing chain condition, gearbox fluid state and electronic module faults. The absence of test failures or advisories is a positive indicator of upkeep, but the recorded distance demands verification of service history for consumable replacement intervals.
