1992 Subaru Impreza 2.0L Petrol · K396 JHJ

This 1992 Subaru Impreza presents a stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a notably clean bill of health. The most recent test on 13 February 2026 at 113,394 miles recorded zero defects, marking four consecutive flawless passes. A minor advisory for slight play in the nearside front wheel bearing appeared in the February 2022 test at 111,002 miles but did not recur in subsequent inspections, suggesting the issue was rectified or has remained within tolerance. The absence of new advisories or failures since then indicates consistent mechanical care. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a vehicle of this age, averaging roughly 3,335 miles per year over 34 years. The record shows minimal annual usage, with increments of only 21 miles between February 2025 and February 2026, and 1,361 miles between February 2024 and February 2025. Such sporadic accumulation raises the possibility of long periods of standing, which can cause latent issues like seized brake calipers, perished rubber bushes, and stale fuel system deposits despite the clean MOT outcomes. The sparse but consistent annual testing pattern does, however, confirm the vehicle has been kept in roadworthy condition throughout. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on components that deteriorate with age and inflexible use rather than mileage alone. Suspension bushes, coil springs, and shock absorbers are prone to perishing on a vehicle that may have sat idle for extended periods. Brake discs and calipers warrant close examination for surface corrosion and binding, particularly at the rear. The exhaust system and underside should be checked for structural corrosion, a common concern on older Japanese imports. Tyre age is critical; even with ample tread depth, rubber older than six years can present a genuine safety risk.
