1993 Nissan Sunny 1.6L Petrol · K852 BVS

A consistently clean MOT record across eight consecutive tests, with only a single tyre advisory recorded in 2018, defines the mechanical narrative of this 1993 Nissan Sunny; the most recent test on 10 April 2026 passed without any defects, confirming that no new failures have been logged in recent years. The absence of recorded faults for brakes, suspension, emissions and structural components suggests that any wear or degradation has either remained below the MOT failure thresholds or has not manifested in a way that required reporting. The odometer reads 65,858 mi, which works out to roughly 2,000 mi per year over a 33‑year lifespan. This low annual accumulation points to light usage rather than high‑stress operation, meaning consumable wear such as brake pads, clutch discs and tyre tread will generally be less advanced than on a similarly aged high‑mileage example. However, prolonged periods of inactivity can allow rubber seals, hoses and bushings to harden or crack, so a visual and tactile inspection of these items is prudent. The testing history shows a regular twelve‑month cadence apart from a 19‑month interval between May 2019 and December 2020, but no gaps that would conceal a missed failure. The 2018 advisory concerning the off‑side rear tyre being close to the legal limit warrants a focused tyre inspection. Verify tread depth across the tyre’s width, looking for uneven wear that could signal mis‑alignment, worn rear suspension bushes or failing rear‑wheel bearings. While the MOT did not flag any suspension faults, a thorough check for play in the rear trailing arms, worn coil springs and deteriorated shock absorbers is advisable; audible clunks over bumps, a feeling of excess bounce or a loose rear end under load would be indicative of emerging issues. Given the vehicle’s age, a comprehensive assessment of age‑related wear is essential. Examine the chassis and sub‑frame for surface rust, especially around mounting points and wheel arches, and inspect the exhaust system for perforations or cracked hangers. Test the brakes for pad thickness, disc surface condition and consistent pedal feel; any pulsation, squeal or judder under braking should be investigated. Finally, a short road‑test should include listening for abnormal noises from the engine bay, feeling for steering pull or vibration at cruising speed, and confirming that all gauges operate correctly, as these observations will highlight any latent problems not captured by the MOT record.
