2008 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · KB57 FUF

The vehicle currently holds a roadworthy status following a successful test on January 12, 2026. The maintenance trend appears generally stable, though the recent failure indicates a lapse in preventative suspension care. Just six days prior at 89,795 miles, the tester failed the car due to excessively worn offside rear axle swivel pins and bushes. The fact that this was rectified and passed within the same week suggests the current owner is responsive to immediate safety failures once they are identified. At 89,803 miles, this 18-year-old Astra reflects low mileage, averaging approximately 5,000 miles per year. The data shows consistent usage patterns with intervals of roughly 4,000 to 4,500 miles between annual tests from 2023 through 2026. This low frequency of use often leaves the drivetrain and engine with less wear than expected for the age, but can also lead to the degradation of rubber-based components like bushes and seals, which aligns with the mechanical failure seen in early 2026. A buyer should conduct a thorough physical inspection of the rear suspension to ensure the recent repair to the offside axle was completed to a professional standard. Given the age of the vehicle and the low mileage, it is vital to check for structural corrosion on the subframe and mounting points, as these Astra models are prone to rust over time. Inspect the brake discs for signs of pitting or scoring, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from surface corrosion during long periods of inactivity.
