2006 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L Petrol · KJ06 EWM

The 2006 Vauxhall Corsa presents a stable and reassuring maintenance trend, culminating in a clean pass on 29 July 2025 at 53,038 miles with zero defects recorded. The preceding test on 28 July 2025 also failed with no defects noted, suggesting a procedural or administrative retest rather than a mechanical failure. Prior to that, every recorded test from May 2022 through May 2024 passed without advisories or failures, indicating consistent upkeep across multiple years. No recurring faults appear in the record, and the trajectory is firmly stable with no signs of deterioration. The mileage accumulation tells a clear story of very light use. Between the May 2022 test at 39,809 miles and the May 2024 test at 46,630 miles, the car covered 6,821 miles over two years, averaging roughly 3,400 miles annually. From May 2024 to July 2025, the odometer moved only from 46,630 to 53,038 miles, a gain of 6,408 miles in approximately fourteen months. Over the full twenty-year span, the average sits at around 2,652 miles per year, well below typical annual usage. The record is clean with no gaps or anomalies suggesting odometer tampering, though the low mileage does mean the vehicle may have spent extended periods stationary, which carries its own risks. Despite the spotless MOT history, a buyer should still inspect the car carefully in person. Low-mileage vehicles that sit unused for long stretches can develop flat-spotted tyres, perished rubber brake hoses, and corroded brake discs or exhaust components from moisture ingress. The tyres deserve close attention, as older rubber degrades with time regardless of tread depth. Suspension bushes and coil springs should be checked for dry rot or sag, particularly if the car has been parked on uneven ground or used primarily for short trips that accelerate corrosion. The underbody and sills warrant a thorough inspection for structural corrosion, a common issue on aging superminis even at modest mileages. Brake calipers should be tested for binding, a condition that can develop from infrequent use rather than high mileage. The exhaust system and catalytic converter should be examined for internal deterioration that may not trigger an MOT advisory but could affect performance and emissions compliance. Overall, the record suggests a well-maintained vehicle, but age-related degradation remains a factor that no MOT pass alone can fully rule out.
