2002 GAS GAS FE400 0.4L Petrol · KS52 AHD

This 2002 GAS GAS FE400 holds a current MOT, having passed on 26 April 2023 with zero defects recorded. That clean result is the only test on file within the last twelve years, making the maintenance trend difficult to establish with confidence. The pass is reassuring on paper, but the absence of any intermediate tests between September 2014 and April 2023 raises questions about how consistently the bike was presented for annual inspection. A single clean sheet after such a long gap tells you little about whether faults were promptly rectified or simply left untested. The mileage data is too sparse to draw meaningful conclusions. The 2013 tests recorded 514 miles and the 2012 test just 154 miles, figures so low they suggest the bike was barely used or the odometer was not functioning correctly. No mileage was recorded for the 2014 or 2023 passes, so there is no way to calculate annual mileage accumulation or verify whether the bike sat unused for extended periods. A machine this age with such thin mileage history could have suffered from deterioration through neglect rather than wear, seized components, dried seals, and stale fuel being common culprits on low-use off-road bikes. The 2013 failure flagged a stop lamp that did not illuminate immediately when the brake was applied and a rear position lamp with the same delayed response, both rectified the same day at 514 miles. The 2012 pass carried an advisory for the rear brake pedal fouling the clutch cover, a contact issue that can restrict pedal return and cause dragging brakes. A buyer should physically test both brake circuits for full, immediate engagement and release, checking that the rear pedal clears the cover throughout its full travel. Binding rear brakes and inconsistent lighting circuits are the only documented faults, but the nine-year testing gap means a thorough inspection of brake calipers, hydraulic lines, suspension bushes, and structural corrosion is essential before any purchase.
