2016 Fiat Unknown 2.3L Diesel · KY16 TFN

The vehicle currently presents a questionable roadworthiness status following a failed MOT test on 1 April 2026 at 15,299 miles. While previous tests indicated a clean record, the most recent failure without recorded defects suggests a mechanical or emissions-related rejection that has not yet been rectified. The overall maintenance trend appears unstable, as the vehicle moved from a clean pass in 2022 to a failure in the current year despite very low levels of operation. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a ten-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 1,530 miles per year. There is a significant gap in usage between June 2021 at 11,378 miles and August 2022 at 13,089 miles, where the car covered only 1,701 miles in over fourteen months. This low-frequency use suggests the vehicle may have sat stationary for extended periods. Long-term standing often leads to the degradation of rubber components, flat-spot tyres, and corrosion on brake discs due to lack of operational friction. A buyer must investigate the specific cause of the April 2026 failure, as the lack of recorded defects in the history implies a non-standard failure or an administrative-related rejection. Given the low mileage, a physical inspection should focus on perished suspension bushes, seized brake calipers, and degraded seals which are common in stagnant vehicles. Check the chassis for early signs of surface rust or structural corrosion, as low-mileage cars often suffer from moisture retention if they are not driven frequently to dry out the underbody.
