2001 Volkswagen Polo 1.4L Petrol · KY51 YVU

The Volkswagen Polo presents a currently roadworthy status with a stable maintenance trend, based on the most recent DVSA test on 11 September 2023 at 134,818 miles where the vehicle passed with no defects recorded. The test history shows no recurring advisories or failures across the five available entries, indicating the car has not displayed worsening mechanical condition over the observed period. A failed test logged on the same date at identical mileage but with no defects recorded points to an administrative rejection rather than a mechanical fault. The recorded mileage of 134,818 at the 2023 test reflects low use for a 2001 model, averaging roughly 5,393 miles per year. The records show minimal annual accumulation: 125,288 miles in August 2020, 125,546 in August 2021, 128,998 in August 2022, and 134,818 by September 2023. This equates to under 10,000 miles across three years. Such low progression suggests extended standing periods, which on a 25-year-old hatchback raises the risk of perished rubber components and stagnant fluids despite the clean MOT slate. A buyer should physically inspect suspension bushes and coil springs for age-related cracking, as the test data offers no insight into these wear items. Brake discs and calipers warrant checks for corrosion or binding after prolonged inactivity. Structural integrity beneath sills and wheel arches needs scrutiny for hidden rust not captured in the pass results. Given the sparse and clean record, the previous owner appears to have maintained basic test compliance, though the absence of advisories on an older low-mileage car does not confirm component health. A pre-purchase inspection remains advisable to verify emissions and drivetrain condition beyond DVSA scope.
