2020 Honda FIT 1.5L Hybrid electric (clean) · LA20 USO

The 2020 Honda Fit has passed its most recent MOT test on 2026-02-18 at 89,456 miles, with no defects recorded. This suggests the vehicle currently meets the minimum roadworthiness standards, though the absence of advisories or defects in a single test provides limited insight into long-term reliability. The latest test occurred just five months ago, which is acceptable for ongoing compliance but does not confirm whether underlying issues—such as suspension wear, brake fade, or emissions drift—have been addressed proactively. Buyers should treat this as a snapshot rather than a guarantee of future performance, particularly given the high annual mileage of approximately 14,909 miles, which accelerates wear on high-stress components. The recorded mileage of 89,456 miles over six years indicates a consistent and relatively aggressive usage pattern, averaging nearly 15,000 miles annually. While this is above the typical range for a vehicle of this age, the MOT history is disappointingly sparse, with only a single test entry available. There are no prior failures or advisories to suggest a pattern of neglect, but the lack of multiple tests makes it impossible to assess whether critical components—such as brake pads, suspension bushes, or exhaust systems—have been monitored or replaced at recommended intervals. The absence of earlier MOT records also means there is no evidence of recurring issues that might indicate poor maintenance or structural weaknesses. Given the limited MOT data, an in-person inspection should prioritise components most susceptible to high-mileage wear. Focus on the brake system: check for uneven pad thickness, glazed rotors, or binding calipers, as these can develop rapidly at this mileage. The suspension should be examined for cracked or perished bushes, sagging coil springs, or excessive play in ball joints, particularly if the vehicle exhibits uneven handling or a stiff ride. Corrosion is another concern; inspect the subframe, wheel arches, and exhaust mounts for pitting or structural weakening, as these areas are prone to rust progression over time. Finally, verify the tyre tread depth and condition, as failing twice on this criterion in other vehicles suggests this could be a recurring oversight. Given the high mileage, expect some consumable wear, but critical failures in brakes, suspension, or chassis integrity would be cause for concern.
