2016 Vauxhall Zafira 1.4L Petrol · LC16 NVN

The Vauxhall Zafira’s most recent MOT test on 2024-11-11, at 105,735 miles, passed without defects, though it was preceded by a near-consecutive retest on the same day at 105,734 miles, which also failed—though curiously, no specific faults were recorded in either instance. This pattern of back-to-back tests suggests either a clerical oversight or a deliberate retest for minor administrative reasons, as no mechanical issues were flagged. The previous clean pass in November 2023 at 95,491 miles, followed by another retest on the 22nd of the same month, reinforces that the vehicle has consistently met MOT standards without major recurring faults. However, the lack of recorded defects does not preclude underlying wear, particularly in high-mileage components that may not trigger MOT failures until later stages. The recorded mileage progression shows steady accumulation, averaging around 10,574 miles annually—a rate typical for a vehicle of this age. Between November 2022 (76,510 miles) and November 2023 (95,491 miles), the car covered approximately 18,981 miles in a year, which aligns with moderate usage rather than aggressive driving. There are no significant gaps or spikes in mileage that would indicate prolonged neglect or unusual wear patterns, though the absence of intermediate MOTs or service records means critical maintenance—such as suspension bush replacements, brake fluid flushes, or timing belt checks—cannot be confirmed. The most recent test was conducted just over two years ago, which, while within the legal MOT window, means some components may now be approaching their expected service intervals. Given the lack of recorded MOT faults, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of high-mileage wear items, particularly the suspension system, where coil springs and bushes often degrade silently. The brakes, though not explicitly failed, warrant scrutiny for uneven pad wear, binding calipers, or corrosion on the rear discs, which are common in this model. Exhaust emissions should be checked for leaks or catalytic converter degradation, as these can develop between tests. Structural integrity is another concern—look for corrosion at wheel arches, sills, and the subframe, as these areas are prone to rust in older Vauxhalls. Finally, verify the condition of the tyres, as the retest pattern could imply minor tread concerns were overlooked; ensure there is no irregular wear or deep cuts in the sidewall.
