2012 Ford Fiesta 1.2L Petrol · LP61 AWY

The vehicle most recently passed its MOT on 14 January 2026 with no defects recorded. Reviewing the history back to 2019, the maintenance trend is exceptionally stable, with a consistent record of clean passes and a complete absence of advisories. This indicates a vehicle that has been kept in a high state of repair or has experienced very little operational stress over the last seven years. At approximately 14 years of age with only 27,572 recorded miles, this Ford Fiesta has been used significantly less than the national average, averaging roughly 1,969 miles per year. While low mileage generally implies reduced wear on the internal combustion components and drivetrain, it often introduces a different set of mechanical risks associated with prolonged periods of inactivity. The primary concern for a buyer is not wear and tear, but rather the degradation of components that perish over time regardless of distance travelled. Given the clean MOT record and low usage, a physical inspection should prioritise the condition of the rubber components. You must examine the tyre sidewalls for fine cracking or perishing, as tyres can become unsafe due to age even if the tread depth remains legal. Similarly, inspect the suspension bushes and engine mounts for signs of drying or cracking. During the test drive, listen for any clunks from the suspension or a lack of smoothness in the steering, which could indicate seized joints or perished bushings resulting from the car standing for long periods. Particular attention should be paid to the braking system and fluid health. Check the brake discs for heavy surface corrosion or pitting, and ensure the calipers are not binding, which can happen when a vehicle is not driven frequently. Verify the service history to ensure that oil, coolant, and brake fluids have been changed based on calendar intervals rather than mileage, as these fluids degrade chemically over time. Finally, test the 12V battery health and check for any signs of moisture or corrosion in the electrical connectors, as low-use vehicles are more prone to battery failure and electrical oxidation.
