The most recent MOT test on 2022-12-21 resulted in a double entry—one pass and one fail—at exactly 8,153 miles, with no defects or advisories recorded in either instance. This is an unusual but not unheard-of anomaly in the DVSA system, though it does not imply mechanical issues. The absence of any advisories or defects across both entries suggests the vehicle passed all mandatory checks for brakes, steering, suspension, lights, and emissions. However, the lack of any recorded maintenance or repeat testing since then means there is no evidence of proactive servicing or wear tracking. The test date is now over three years out of date, which is critical given the age of the vehicle and the potential for hidden wear in components like suspension bushes, chain tensioners, or throttle body deposits. The recorded mileage of 8,153 miles over approximately eight years—roughly 1,019 miles annually—is exceptionally low for a motorcycle of this age. Such minimal usage could indicate the bike has spent extended periods stored, which may accelerate degradation in rubber seals, battery health, and fuel system components. There are no intermediate MOTs or service records to confirm whether the vehicle was ever moved or maintained during this period. The abrupt halt in MOT history also raises questions about whether the bike was ever ridden post-2022, as motorcycles typically require annual testing. Buyers should verify recent movement and storage conditions, as prolonged inactivity can lead to seized components or corrosion in critical areas. Given the lack of recorded defects or advisories in the final MOT, the most critical areas for an in-person inspection should focus on wear items that are not routinely checked by MOT testers. The suspension—particularly the rear shocks and front forks—should be examined for leaks, excessive play, or degraded bushes, as these are not visually inspected during an MOT. The chain and sprocket should be checked for stretch, lubrication, and wear, as these are often overlooked in low-mileage bikes but can fail catastrophically if neglected. The battery, throttle body, and fuel filter are also high-risk items for a stored motorcycle; corrosion in the battery terminals or carbon buildup in the throttle body could cause starting issues. Finally, inspect the frame and subframe for any signs of corrosion or stress cracks, especially around welds, as these are not covered by the MOT but can compromise structural integrity.
