The most recent MOT on 2024-05-17 showed a pass with no defects recorded at 28,147 miles. This indicates the vehicle met safety standards at that time, with no immediate concerns flagged. The prior MOT in 2020 also passed with no defects, and the 2019 entry (before the failure) similarly showed no issues. The only recorded failure was in 2019, where a brake component was inadequately mounted (1.1.21 (c)), which suggests a specific mechanical oversight. The vehicle’s mileage of 28,147 miles for a 31-year-old bike is unusually low, averaging 908 miles per year . This could reflect light use, long periods of inactivity, or infrequent riding. While low mileage often correlates with less wear on components like the engine and drivetrain, it may also indicate storage-related issues such as degraded rubber seals, battery drain, or corrosion. The MOT history does not mention these risks, so they remain speculative. The defect pattern shows a single, isolated failure in 2019, resolved by 2020, with no further issues in subsequent tests. This suggests the problem was addressed and did not recur.
