2002 Toyota Yaris 1.0L Petrol · MV02 AZL

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2024-12-11 at 87,282 miles showed no defects, but the preceding test on 2024-12-10 at 87,291 miles recorded a failure with no defects noted. This inconsistency suggests potential administrative errors or incomplete testing. Prior tests from 2023-12-20 and 2022-12-07 were passed with no defects, indicating a stable maintenance record in the preceding years. The lack of recorded issues in recent tests implies the vehicle is currently roadworthy, though the abrupt failure without explanation raises questions about the reliability of the data. The vehicle’s mileage of 87,282 miles over 24 years equates to approximately 3,637 miles annually, significantly lower than average for its age. This suggests infrequent use or prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate corrosion, rubber degradation, and electrical system issues. Notably, the mileage increased by only 3,275 miles between 2022-12-07 (80,185 miles) and 2023-12-20 (83,460 miles), followed by a 3,822-mile rise to 87,282 miles by 2024-12-11. Such slow accumulation may indicate the vehicle has been stored for extended periods, increasing the risk of undetected mechanical or structural deterioration. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the body for rust, particularly in areas prone to moisture ingress, and assess the condition of suspension components, which may have stiffened due to inactivity. The absence of recorded brake or tyre issues in MOTs does not preclude wear, so a detailed check of brake discs, calipers, and tyre tread is essential. Additionally, the electrical system and fluid levels should be scrutinised, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from neglected maintenance cycles. The MOT history’s ambiguity regarding the 2024 failure underscores the need for a professional mechanical inspection to confirm the vehicle’sTrue condition.
