2015 Volkswagen Passat 2.0L Diesel · OO05 MCO

The vehicle passed its most recent MOT on 17 September 2025 at 101,047 miles, with no fail items, but two advisories on thin front and rear brake pads. This confirms the car is currently roadworthy, though the recurring brake pad wear suggests ongoing maintenance neglect rather than a resolved issue. The trend is stable but not improving—brake pads have been flagged as thin in both 2021 and 2025, indicating they were not replaced at the first warning and are now again at critical wear levels. The recorded mileage of 101,047 over 11 years averages 9,186 per year, which is typical for a vehicle of this age. There are no unusual gaps in the MOT history; tests occurred annually without exception, and the mileage progression is consistent: 47,258 in 2021, 62,120 in 2022, 74,641 in 2023, 88,293 in 2024, and 101,047 in 2025. This steady climb implies regular use without long periods of inactivity, and the absence of structural or emissions failures across five tests suggests the engine and chassis have been reasonably cared for. A buyer must inspect the brake system thoroughly—both pads and discs—before purchase. The repeated advisories on brake pad wear, occurring every four years, point to either deferred maintenance or aggressive driving. The 2024 oil leak advisory, though minor, should be investigated for its source; it may indicate worn gaskets or seals that could worsen. The suspension and exhaust should also be checked for corrosion or wear, as the car is now over a decade old and has accumulated significant mileage without any structural advisories to date, which is reassuring but not a guarantee. Tyres, hoses, and fluid levels should be verified, as these are the most likely to degrade with time and use, even if not flagged in the MOT.
