The latest test flagged corrosion to both rear wheel arch structures and a corroded, grease-covered offside rear brake pipe. These are not new issues. The same brake pipe defect appeared in 2024, meaning it was noted and left unrepaired for over a year. Structural corrosion advisories also appeared in 2025 for the first time, suggesting the vehicle's body condition is actively deteriorating rather than stable. The mileage pattern tells a story of very light recent use. Between the December 2021 test at 131,122 miles and the June 2025 test at 146,011 miles, the vehicle covered just 14,889 miles across nearly three and a half years, averaging roughly 4,250 miles annually during that window. Before that, usage was steadier at around 7,000 to 8,000 miles per year. The sharp drop in annual mileage from late 2021 onward raises the possibility of long periods standing still, which is particularly problematic for a vehicle of this age. Standing vehicles suffer from deteriorated rubber components, seized brake calipers, and accelerated corrosion of brake lines and structural panels, exactly the pattern this record shows. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the rear brake system first. The offside rear brake pipe has been flagged as corroded and contaminated with grease or debris in both 2024 and 2025. This is a recurring defect that compromises braking integrity and suggests the pipe may need replacement rather than cleaning. The rear wheel arch structures also warrant close examination with a torch and a screwdriver. The 2025 tester noted corrosion that had not yet significantly reduced structural rigidity, but on a twenty-year-old steel-bodied Land Rover, corrosion advisories tend to escalate quickly. Check the inner sills, chassis mounts, and bulkhead for the same pattern. Beyond the corrosion, the front end needs attention. A slightly distorted nearside front wheel appeared in both 2023 and 2024, and slight play was found in the nearside front track rod end in 2020. These point to worn front-end components that may now need replacement after years of deferred attention. The front brake discs were noted as worn in 2021, and with such low recent mileage, they may have surface corrosion from standing rather than friction wear. Inspect the tyres carefully too; the nearside rear sidewall was flagged as slightly damaged in 2021, and aged rubber on a low-mileage vehicle that sits for long periods is a genuine risk even if tread depth looks adequate.
