2002 Volvo C70 2.0L Petrol · PJ02 WFK

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2025-04-28 at 96,577 miles recorded a pass with no defects, but the preceding test on the same date at 96,575 miles showed a failure with no recorded issues. This inconsistency suggests potential administrative errors or unreported minor faults. Subsequent tests in 2024 and 2023 showed stable performance, with no defects flagged. The lack of recorded issues in these tests implies the car has maintained basic roadworthiness, though the absence of detailed fault codes limits definitive conclusions. The vehicle’s mileage of 96,577 miles over 24 years equates to approximately 4,024 miles annually, significantly below average for its age. This low usage may indicate infrequent driving or prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate wear on components like seals, batteries, and suspension bushes. A notable gap exists between the 2024-04-26 test (88,951 miles) and the 2025-04-28 test (96,577 miles), reflecting a 7,626-mile increase over 14 months, suggesting sporadic use. The sparse MOT history, with no recurring defects, implies minimal mechanical degradation but does not rule out hidden issues from long-term storage. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the suspension system for worn bushes or coil springs, as low mileage can mask age-related fatigue. The brake system, including calipers and discs, should be checked for corrosion or binding, particularly if the car has been stationary. Structural integrity, especially underbody rust, is critical given the model’s age. The absence of recorded exhaust emissions failures is positive, but a live emissions test is recommended. Physical checks for fluid leaks, battery condition, and steering alignment are essential to confirm the MOT records’ accuracy.
