The vehicle’s most recent MOT, conducted on 2025-03-28 at 170,164 miles, recorded a pass with no defects. This suggests a stable maintenance trend, as the prior tests in 2023 and 2022 also showed no critical issues, despite two failures in 2022 and 2023. However, the absence of defect details in these failures limits insight into underlying causes. The lack of recurring mechanical or structural concerns in the latest test implies the vehicle has been maintained to a standard meeting legal requirements, though further scrutiny is advised given the prior failures. The mileage of 170,164 miles aligns with an average annual usage of 8,103 miles, consistent with the vehicle’s 21-year age. Notable gaps exist in the MOT history, including a 13-month interval between the December 2022 tests and the November 2023 test, during which mileage increased by 8,220 miles. This suggests potential periods of infrequent testing, which could mask gradual wear in components like suspension bushes, coil springs, or brake discs. The absence of corrosion or structural integrity issues in recorded tests does not preclude hidden damage, particularly in a vehicle of this age. A buyer should prioritize an independent inspection of the suspension system, focusing on worn bushes or coil springs, and verify brake disc thickness and caliper function, as these are common wear points in older SUVs. The dual failures in 2022 and 2023, though unexplained, warrant attention to exhaust emissions and steering components, which could affect safety and compliance. While the latest MOT confirms roadworthiness, the historical inconsistencies highlight the need for a thorough pre-purchase check to address potential unresolved issues.
