2004 Volkswagen Golf 1.6L Petrol · PJ54 AZT

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile, though the current MOT is now nearly four years lapsed. The most recent test on 30 August 2022 at 146,304 miles passed with no defects recorded, indicating the car was in good mechanical condition at that time. Given the current date of June 2026, the vehicle has operated without a formal inspection for a significant period, which raises questions regarding the current state of rubber components and fluid systems that degrade over time regardless of mileage. The mileage pattern is consistent with a low-use vehicle of this age, averaging approximately 6,650 miles per year. The record shows a steady increase of 5,000 miles between September 2020 and August 2021, followed by another 5,500 miles leading to the final recorded test in August 2022. This regularity suggests the car was used regularly rather than sitting stationary, which helps protect seals and drivetrain components. However, the lack of data since late 2022 means the actual current mileage is unknown and the wear over the last four years remains unverified. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the structural integrity, specifically checking the sills and rear arches for corrosion, which is common on this generation of Golf. While the history shows no recurring mechanical advisories, the failures recorded in 2020 and 2022 without listed defects suggest minor issues that required immediate attention to achieve passing. Focus on inspecting the suspension bushes for perished rubber and checking the brake calipers for binding or pitting, as the long gap since the last test increases the likelihood of surface rust on exposed components.
