2016 Toyota Yaris 1.3L Petrol · PL66 PPF

The most recent MOT conducted on 27 November 2025 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects or advisories. Looking at the historical data from 2019 through to 2025, the maintenance trend is remarkably stable, showing a consistent ability to meet all statutory safety and emissions standards. This clean record suggests that the vehicle has not suffered from significant structural, suspension, or braking failures that would typically trigger an MOT failure, indicating a high level of baseline roadworthiness. The recorded mileage of 12,131 miles is exceptionally low for a 2016 model, representing an annual average of approximately 1,213 miles. While this suggests very little mechanical wear on the drivetrain, engine internals, and suspension bushes, such low usage often implies the vehicle has been subject to long periods of standing. From a mechanical perspective, vehicles that are driven infrequently can face different challenges than high-mileage cars, specifically regarding the degradation of components that rely on regular movement and thermal cycling to remain in optimal condition. During your inspection, you must look beyond the low mileage and focus on age-related deterioration. Closely examine the tyres for signs of perishing or sidewall cracking, as rubber degrades over time regardless of tread depth. Check the brake discs for heavy surface corrosion or pitting, and during the test drive, listen for any binding or squealing which could indicate calipers that have seized or become stuck due to inactivity. It is also vital to verify the service history, specifically ensuring that oil and fluid changes have been performed on a calendar basis rather than just a mileage basis, as engine oil and brake fluid can degrade and absorb moisture even if the car is rarely driven. Additionally, inspect the 12V battery health, as infrequent charging cycles can lead to premature failure or sulfation. Check for any signs of fluid leaks around the engine bay or under the chassis, as seals can sometimes dry out and perish when not regularly lubricated by circulating fluids. Finally, pay attention to the suspension during the test drive; listen for any knocks or clunks over bumps, as rubber components like bushes and mountings can harden and crack from age and lack of use, even if they show no obvious wear from friction.
