2013 SYM XS 125 0.1L Petrol · PO62 EUW

The vehicle is currently roadworthy, having passed its most recent MOT test on 16 April 2026. The maintenance trend appears stable as the latest inspection identified only a minor advisory regarding a worn drive chain that did not meet the threshold for failure. This suggests that while the drivetrain is showing normal signs of age, the core mechanical components remain within operational parameters for a vehicle of this usage level. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a thirteen-year-old scooter averaging averaging 290 miles per year. There is a significant ten-year gap between the June 2016 test at 1,210 miles and the April 2026 test at 3,774 miles. This pattern indicates the vehicle spent stationary for long periods rather than being used regularly. While low mileage reduces wear on the engine and gearbox, it often exposes the vehicle to degradation from sitting that MOT testing does not fully capture. A buyer must conduct a physical inspection focusing on the risks associated with long-term storage. Check for perished rubber components, including brake hoses, tyres, and seals, as these can dry out regardless of low mileage. The worn drive chain noted in the 2026 test should be inspected for proper tension and sprocket wear to ensure it does not snap. Additionally, examine the suspension for corrosion and the calipers for seizing, as moisture can settle when a vehicle remains stationary for extended years.
