2008 MINI Cooper 1.6L Petrol · PX08 OBB

The 2008 MINI Cooper presents a stable and reassuring roadworthiness profile. The most recent MOT, conducted on 12 June 2023 at 126,235 miles, passed with zero defects recorded. This clean bill of health, following a pattern of consistent passes, indicates the vehicle was maintained to a competent standard at that time. However, a significant gap exists, as the current date is June 2026, meaning the MOT certificate expired over three years ago. The maintenance trend is stable but unproven in the present day. The mileage accumulation is remarkably linear and typical for an eighteen-year-old vehicle. Between the May 2021 test at 116,909 miles and the June 2023 test at 126,235 miles, the car covered approximately 9,326 miles over two years, averaging just under 4,663 miles annually. This is below the stated typical annual mileage of 7,000, suggesting lighter use or periods of standing. The recorded mileage has remained static at 126,235 miles since the June 2023 pass, confirming the vehicle has seen negligible use in the intervening three years. A buyer must approach this extended period of inactivity with caution. A stationary vehicle develops specific faults. Tyres will have flat-spotted and perished, requiring immediate inspection and likely replacement. Brake discs and calipers are highly susceptible to surface corrosion and binding after prolonged standing. The exhaust system, particularly the flexible pipe and silencer, should be checked for corrosion from internal moisture. Fluid levels, including brake fluid and coolant, must be assessed for degradation and contamination. Beyond the risks of storage, the complete absence of any advisories or failures across all recorded tests is a strong positive indicator. It suggests no chronic issues with suspension bushes, coil springs, or structural corrosion were developing. The primary concern is not a history of neglect, but the current unknown condition after three years of dormancy. A thorough pre-purchase inspection, focusing on the components affected by standing, is essential before any commitment.
