2017 SEAT Ibiza 1.2L Petrol · PX17 WVV

The most recent MOT history for this 2017 SEAT Ibiza, tested just 10 months ago on 2025-09-18, reveals a concerning inconsistency rather than a clear trend. Despite two consecutive tests at the same mileage—one pass, one fail—no defects were recorded, which suggests either an administrative error in the DVSA system or a vehicle that narrowly avoided critical failures. The lack of advisories or recurring issues in prior tests implies that, if maintained properly, this Ibiza has avoided major mechanical neglect. However, the double-test anomaly at 70,590 miles warrants scrutiny, as it may indicate a borderline condition that slipped through inspection or a deliberate retest to confirm compliance. The recorded mileage progression of roughly 7,843 miles annually aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, with no prolonged periods of inactivity or rapid acceleration in wear. The most notable pattern is the identical mileage at two separate tests in September 2025, which could imply the vehicle was either stationary or driven very little between those dates. The previous intervals—12,112 miles between 2024 and 2025, and 12,112 miles between 2023 and 2024—suggest consistent annual mileage without extreme fluctuations. There are no gaps in testing that would raise immediate red flags, though the double-test at the same mileage remains unexplained. Given the absence of recorded defects in prior MOTs, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear components that often fail without visible warning. Focus on the suspension—particularly the rear bushes and coil springs—since these are common failure points in Ibizas around this mileage, even if not always MOT-critical. The brakes, especially the rear calipers and discs, should be checked for binding or uneven wear, as repeated failures in this area can indicate neglect or poor maintenance. Structural integrity is another concern; inspect the wheel arches, sills, and subframe for corrosion, as rust can compromise safety without immediate MOT failure. Finally, verify the exhaust system for leaks or damage, as catalytic converter failures are increasingly common in this model range. The lack of advisories does not guarantee these areas are sound, so thorough visual and functional checks are essential.
