1998 Suzuki GSF1200 1.2L Petrol · R953 CKN

The most recent MOT test conducted on 26 March 2025 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects. Reviewing the testing history from 2021 through to 2025, the maintenance trend appears remarkably stable and consistent. The absence of any recorded failures or advisories across several years suggests that the vehicle has been subject to diligent upkeep or has been maintained in a highly preserved state, meeting all essential safety and environmental standards without issue. The recorded mileage of 47,385 miles is significantly low for a vehicle of this age, representing an average annual usage of approximately 1,692 miles. While low mileage generally implies less mechanical wear on the engine and drivetrain, it also suggests the motorcycle may have spent extended periods stationary. For a vehicle of this vintage, long periods of standing can lead to specific issues such as fluid degradation, seal hardening, and the onset of corrosion in components that are not regularly exercised. Therefore, the lack of mileage should not be viewed as a guarantee of perfect mechanical health, but rather as a prompt for a more nuanced inspection. Given the clean MOT record and the profile of infrequent use, a prospective buyer should prioritise a thorough physical inspection of age-related deterioration. Closely examine the tyres for any signs of sidewall cracking or perishing, as rubber compounds lose elasticity over time regardless of remaining tread depth. Inspect the brake discs for surface corrosion and test the calipers to ensure they are not binding or sticking due to old fluid or seized pistons. It is also vital to check the condition of all rubber components, including fork seals, fuel lines, and intake manifolds, for signs of cracking or hardening. Furthermore, verify that time-based servicing has been conducted; even with low mileage, engine oil, coolant, and brake fluid must be replaced periodically to prevent internal contamination. Finally, check the 12V battery health and ensure the charging system is robust, as long intervals between rides can often lead to battery degradation.
