2007 Mercedes-Benz S-Class 6.2L Petrol · R9 JSM

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class in question presents a stable roadworthiness record over its recent MOT history, with the most current test on 15 August 2025 at 136,402 miles showing no defects—an outcome replicated in the prior two tests on 8 March 2024 (135,301 miles) and 19 August 2022 (132,504 miles) . This consistency suggests the vehicle has been maintained to a high standard in critical areas, with no recurring advisories or failures that would indicate neglect or progressive deterioration. The absence of defects in three consecutive tests, spanning nearly three years, is particularly notable for a vehicle of this age and mileage, though it does not preclude the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection by a qualified mechanic. The mileage accumulation reflects a cautious usage pattern, averaging roughly 7,179 miles per year —well within expectations for a 19-year-old luxury vehicle. The gap between the 2022 and 2024 tests (just over two years) aligns with the typical MOT frequency for a car of this age, and the incremental mileage increases (around 1,200 miles per year ) imply either infrequent use or extended periods of low activity. There is no evidence of rapid mileage buildup that might suggest forced service intervals or aggressive driving, which would typically accelerate wear on suspension components, brake systems, or drivetrain seals. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a detailed inspection of high-wear areas that may not always trigger MOT advisories but are critical for long-term reliability. Particular attention should be paid to the suspension geometry , including bushings, coil springs, and ball joints, as these can degrade without immediate safety implications but may compromise handling. The brake system —including calipers, discs, and hydraulic lines—should be checked for binding, uneven wear, or fluid leaks, even though the MOT records show no issues. Additionally, the exhaust system and underbody components warrant scrutiny for corrosion or fatigue cracks, especially given the vehicle’s age and the potential for moisture retention in a luxury sedan. Finally, the electrical systems , such as sensors, actuators, and lighting circuits, should be tested for intermittent faults, as these are less likely to be caught in a standard MOT but can lead to costly repairs if ignored.
