2008 Audi A4 2.0L Diesel · RJ58 AFX

The 2008 Audi A4 has maintained a clean MOT history since its most recent test on January 19, 2026, at 110,376 miles, with no defects or advisories recorded. This suggests the vehicle has passed all mandatory checks for brakes, suspension, steering, emissions, and structural integrity without fail. The single failure in February 2025 at 108,224 miles—though unusual given the lack of recorded defects—was resolved promptly, as evidenced by the subsequent pass just eight days later at 108,230 miles. No recurring issues have been documented, and the absence of advisories implies no recurring mechanical concerns have been overlooked. However, the 11-month gap between the 2026 pass and today’s date means the vehicle has not undergone an official inspection since, leaving a window where undetected wear or minor faults could have developed. The mileage progression of approximately 6,132 miles per year aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age, though the 108-mile gap between the 2025 failure and pass suggests either a brief period of reduced driving or a swift resolution of an unrecorded minor issue. The longest gap between tests occurs between April 2024 (104,601 miles) and March 2025 (108,230 miles), a span of just under a year, which is acceptable but leaves some uncertainty over maintenance consistency during that period. There is no evidence of excessive mileage accumulation or prolonged inactivity, though the lack of pre-MOT servicing records means potential wear—such as in the suspension bushes or coil springs—cannot be confirmed without further inspection. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough examination of the suspension components, particularly the rear bushes and coil springs, as these are common wear items on this model that may not always trigger MOT failures until they are critically degraded. The brakes, while not flagged in the MOT, should be checked for uneven wear, binding calipers, or corrosion on the discs and callipers, especially given the age of the vehicle. Structural integrity is another critical area; the chassis rails, subframe, and wheel arches should be inspected for corrosion or damage, as these are often overlooked until they compromise safety. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions components warrant attention, as even minor leaks or catalytic converter degradation can escalate quickly in an older vehicle. The absence of advisories in recent tests is reassuring, but no MOT can guarantee unseen issues, so a professional pre-purchase inspection remains advisable.
