1983 Volkswagen Golf 1.8L Petrol · RVP 188Y

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status based on its recent MOT history following an initial failure. The most recent test on 4 May 2023 resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, indicating that the car met minimum safety standards at that time. This follows a failure on 28 February 2022 which was rectified immediately to pass on the same day, suggesting the owner was willing to address mechanical faults rather than allowing them to persist. Data regarding mileage is critically limited, as no figures were recorded across any of the available test entries. Without mileage intervals, it is impossible to determine if the vehicle is being used regularly or if it has sat stationary for long periods. The fourteen-month gap between the February 2022 test and the May 2023 test shows a consistent pattern of annual testing beyond annual intervals, which is typical for a classic vehicle of this age. A buyer must prioritize a physical inspection of the structural integrity, as 1980s chassis are prone to significant corrosion in the sills, floor pans, and wing arches. Since the most recent record shows no advisories, the tester did not find immediate rust or perished rubber components during that inspection. However, the lack of mileage data means the condition of consumable items like brake lines and suspension bushes remains unknown and should be checked for cracking or cracking.
