2015 Renault Megane 1.5L Diesel · SA15 PTY

This Renault Megane presents a clean and reassuring roadworthiness profile, with the most recent assessment on 24 October 2025 resulting in a pass with no advisories or defects recorded. Across four consecutive MOT tests since May 2023, the vehicle has alternated between pass and fail outcomes on the same dates, but crucially, neither of the recorded failures lists any defects, indicating that the car was likely failed on a minor administrative or retest-related technicality and then immediately re-presented and passed on the same day. The underlying trend is therefore one of consistent mechanical compliance, with no advisories accumulating to flag developing wear on suspension, braking, or structural components. For an eleven-year-old Megane, this clean sheet of recorded observations is a notably positive indicator of its ongoing condition. Annual mileage of approximately 8,080 miles is broadly typical for the vehicle's age and suggests a routine pattern of mixed commuting and leisure driving rather than any extreme usage. The accumulated 88,879 miles indicates the engine, transmission, clutch (if manual), and drivetrain have been worked steadily rather than left to deteriorate through long periods of standing, which can be particularly damaging to seals, gaskets, and the diesel or petrol injection components fitted to this generation of Megane. There are no extended gaps in the MOT history that would suggest the car has been off the road for any significant period, and the mileage progression between tests appears consistent with normal accumulation, indicating continuous use rather than clock anomalies or sporadic driving. Given the absence of any recorded advisories, there are no specific components flagged by the DVSA that require priority inspection, but a prospective buyer should still conduct a thorough physical evaluation typical for a Megane of this age and mileage. Pay particular attention to the front suspension, specifically the lower wishbone bushes, drop links, and anti-roll bar mountings, as these are known wear items on the Megane III platform and can produce clonking noises over speed humps or uneven surfaces before they become visibly deteriorated. Test the brakes firmly from speed, listening for any binding or juddering from the front discs, which are prone to corrosion on the outer edges and lipping due to regular urban use. Inspect the underside of the engine and gearbox for any signs of oil seepage from the cam cover gasket or sump, and check the condition of the exhaust system, particularly the rear silencer and mounting rubbers, which can corrode through on vehicles exposed to winter road salt. On the road, evaluate the steering for any vagueness, pulling to one side under braking, or knocking from the front end, all of which can indicate worn top mounts or track rod end deterioration. Listen for any timing chain rattle on cold start, a known concern on higher-mileage Megane petrol engines, and observe whether the engine management light remains extinguished. Finally, check the operation of the clutch for any slipping under load or judder on take-off, as a replacement at this mileage would represent a foreseeable cost. Overall, with no MOT-recorded defects or advisories and a continuous testing history, this Megane represents a sound mechanical starting position, provided the physical inspection confirms the expected wear pattern for its mileage.
