2018 Vauxhall Corsa 1.4L Petrol · SA68 ECD

The vehicle presents a mixed mechanical profile based on its DVSA MOT records and usage patterns. Over the recorded period it has accumulated a substantial 88,919 miles, which aligns with the typical range for its 2018 build year, suggesting a reasonable level of wear but not necessarily indicative of poor maintenance. The recurring advisories point to several areas requiring attention, particularly in the suspension and braking systems, which have shown consistent issues across multiple inspections. The presence of a worn Macpherson strut pin or bush, coupled with light oil misting from shock absorbers, indicates potential instability in the front suspension that could affect handling and ride comfort. Additionally, the multiple warnings about tyre wear and track joint integrity suggest the vehicle has endured considerable stress, likely due to infrequent or irregular driving. Looking at the mileage context, the 88,919 recorded miles over roughly eight years reflects a steady but not accelerating increase, which is typical for a car of this age. This pattern implies the vehicle has been used consistently enough to develop predictable wear points, especially in components subjected to frequent load and steering input. The gaps in the MOT history, though not extensive, do highlight periods where the car may have been left unattended or under-serviced, which could have exacerbated existing faults. On a test drive, one should pay close attention to the front suspension behavior, particularly the play in the strut top mounts and the responsiveness of the shock absorbers, as these areas are flagged multiple times. For the buyer, it is advisable to inspect the front strut assembly carefully, checking for any signs of excessive movement or looseness, and to verify that the brake pads are not excessively worn, which could compromise stopping power. The braking system in particular warrants a thorough examination, especially the track rod end ball joints and the condition of the tyre sidewalls, as the recent failures suggest a need for immediate attention. While the overall MOT record is clean, the accumulation of specific advisories and the vehicle’s usage history suggest a cautious approach to driving conditions and maintenance expectations. Ultimately, this car carries a history of mechanical challenges that should be addressed before considering it for purchase. Buyers should be prepared for potential repairs or adjustments, particularly in the suspension and braking subsystems, to ensure long-term reliability and safety on the road.
