2009 Fiat 500 1.2L Diesel · SD09 SSK

A significant lapse in official certification defines the current status of this vehicle, with the last recorded inspection occurring on 31 July 2023. Although that test and the one preceding it in August 2022 were both clean passes with no defects or advisories, the three-year absence of a valid MOT means the current roadworthiness is unverified. The historical lack of flagged issues suggests a stable mechanical baseline, but the current expired status is the primary point of concern. The recorded mileage of 128,611 miles over a seventeen-year period reflects a consistent usage pattern of approximately 7,565 miles per year. This level of accumulation is typical for the age of the vehicle and indicates that the drivetrain and chassis have been subjected to steady, moderate wear. Mechanically, this mileage suggests that primary consumables and rubber components are likely reaching the end of their natural service life. Given the high mileage and the current lack of a valid MOT, a physical inspection should focus on the integrity of the suspension bushes and steering linkages. During a test drive, listen for knocks or clunks when traversing uneven surfaces and feel for any vagueness or play in the steering wheel, which would indicate wear in the rack or tie ends. Attention should also be paid to the engine bay and underside for signs of oil misting or leaks, which are common as seals age on this model. Check for any unevenness in brake pedal feel or judder during deceleration, as the high mileage increases the likelihood of binding calipers or worn brake discs that may have developed since the last clean pass in 2023.
