2005 Honda Accord 2.4L Petrol · SD55 AHP

The vehicle is currently roadworthy, having passed its latest MOT on 2 March 2026 at 75,561 miles. While the history shows a pattern of immediate failures followed by successful passes, the most recent result indicates a clean sheet with no defects or advisories. The overall maintenance trend appears stable, as the owner has consistently addressed necessary issues to maintain compliance, despite the erratic results seen in the more recent testing cycles. The mileage profile is exceptionally low for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 3,600 miles per year. The data reveals significant periods of inactivity, such as the 2,923-mile gap between May 2023 and September 2024, and the single-mile difference between the February 2026 failure and March 2026 pass. This low usage suggests the car has spent long periods standing rather than undergoing frequent driving. While low mileage reduces mechanical wear on the engine and drivetrain, it often leads to age-related degradation that is not captured by mileage alone. A buyer should inspect the vehicle specifically for signs of dry rot in rubber components, as low-mile cars frequently suffer from perished bushes, split tyres, and degraded brake seals due to lack of use. The failures in 2024 and early 2026 occurring just days before passes suggest that minor consumable items or lighting defects are being rectified only when prompted by testing. Focus the physical inspection on structural corrosion in the sills and suspension mounting points, as older Honda Accords are prone to rust regardless of how many miles they have clocked.
