2012 Vauxhall Astra 2.0L Diesel · SF62 SKK

This Vauxhall Astra has maintained a consistent MOT pass record across five consecutive tests, with no defects or advisories recorded in any of the most recent examinations. The November 2025 test at 147,171 miles confirms the vehicle remains roadworthy under current DVSA standards, though the absence of any recorded issues does not preclude underlying wear beyond MOT scope. The regular annual testing pattern suggests compliance with legal requirements, but the lack of advisories or defects also implies either meticulous maintenance or deferred attention to potential problems not yet severe enough to fail inspection. The recorded mileage progression of approximately 6,500 miles per year—from 109,810 miles in November 2021 to 147,171 miles in November 2025—aligns with typical usage for its age. There are no abrupt mileage jumps or prolonged periods of inactivity, which could indicate either steady owner turnover or consistent long-term use. The most recent test occurred just six months ago, placing the vehicle within the optimal window for MOT compliance, though the next due date will be November 2026. The absence of any advisory notes in prior tests means there is no historical evidence of recurring mechanical concerns that would warrant immediate scrutiny beyond standard wear items. Given the clean MOT history, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of high-wear components not routinely tested, such as suspension bushes and coil springs for excessive play or corrosion, particularly in the wheel arches and sills. The brakes, while not failed, may require assessment for uneven wear or binding calipers, especially if the vehicle has experienced aggressive braking patterns. Structural integrity should be checked for signs of rust penetration in the floor pans, subframe, and rear sills, as these areas are common failure points in vehicles of this age and mileage. Additionally, the exhaust system and catalytic converter should be inspected for leaks or damage, as these are often overlooked until they fail an emissions test. The engine bay should be examined for fluid leaks, particularly oil and coolant, which could indicate a history of neglect or impending failure.
