The most recent MOT test on January 23, 2024, confirms the vehicle passed without any recorded defects, placing it in a stable roadworthiness state for the moment. However, the test date is now over two years old, exceeding the standard 12-month validity period by nearly 18 months. This delay alone raises concerns about whether the vehicle has been subject to necessary interim maintenance, particularly for components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake calipers, which degrade incrementally and may have deteriorated beyond the original MOT thresholds. The absence of advisories or defects in the last two tests suggests no major failures were recorded, but the extended gap between tests means critical wear could have accumulated undetected. The mileage record shows unusually low annual mileage—approximately 5,900 miles per year—over the past nine years, which is well below the average for a vehicle of this age. This pattern implies prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate issues like suspension corrosion, brake fluid degradation, and battery failure. Notably, the vehicle sat unused for roughly 18 months between the September 2021 and January 2023 tests, covering just 9,854 miles in that time. Such stagnation increases the risk of neglected maintenance, including seized wheel bearings, degraded fuel system components, or even structural rust progression in wheel arches and sills. Given the extended MOT gap, a buyer should prioritise an independent inspection of the suspension system, focusing on worn or perished bushes, cracked coil springs, and binding calipers—common failures in high-mileage vehicles left standing for extended periods. The braking system warrants thorough examination, particularly for uneven disc wear, glazed pads, or corroded callipers, as brake fluid can degrade significantly over two years of inactivity. Structural integrity should also be assessed, especially around wheel arches, sills, and the subframe, where prolonged exposure to moisture could have accelerated corrosion. While the MOT history shows no recorded faults, the lack of recent testing and the vehicle’s age demand rigorous scrutiny of these high-risk areas.
